The VAIE American teaching model allows for students to work at their own pace (speed). This results in students who have the opportunity to excel and move ahead of their peers. The students at VAIE meet in their courses on a daily basis and have a longer school day than American schools and most International schools. Our curriculum is from the state of Utah in the United States. Utah schools typically go from 7:30am to 3:00pm. The best students in the schools earn a maximum of 8 credits per school year, or 32 term credits.
The VAIE school is in session from 7:40am to 8:15pm. Students have dedicated time where they can personally study the subjects they choose. Those students who are very self motivated are able to accomplish much more than their peers is US schools.
At VAIE, we have scheduled awards assemblies where our students are honored for their successes. Our assembly for April 19, 2018 demonstrated how impressive our students are.
Below is some whole school data showing VAIE student growth and success:
Median GPA for all students (including new students) is 3.70. That is equivalent of A-. The highest GPA in our school is 3.894. Those types of GPA’s are what elite US Universities are looking for in their new students.
VAIE students completed 304 terms of course work. Our school average is 32 terms completed per student. The highest amount earned by one student was 35 terms completed. Students in Utah earn 32 term credits in an entire school year. Our students still have two (2) months available to work on courses. At this rate, our highest earning student should be able to complete nine (9) more terms for a total of 44 terms. That is incredible.
Our median reading scores, including our new students, is at 80%. What this means is that our students are now reading, comprehending, and passing our reading assessments at 80% proficiency within a 9th-10th grade reading range. This was accomplished in seven (7) months of being enrolled at VAIE. According to our assessments, our highest achieving students are reading at 90% proficiency!
VAIE average reading growth was 21%. That means our students are reading 21% better on average than they were when they started school in August. One of our students’ reading scores improved by 45%! That is equivalent of moving up 3-4 grade levels in reading-and that is in only seven(7) months of being enrolled at VAIE.
VAIE students are outperforming their peers in the United States. Our data proves that. As teachers, we are very proud of the accomplishments attained by our incredible students this year.
